The analysis by HHS of the new repeal-only option is out. Here is all you really need to know: they assume that the plans insurance companies offer will have a $12,000 deductible. So, you pay your premium, then you pay the first twelve grand. And yes, those numbers are in American dollars, not something like Japanese yen. That may actually be an okay deal for anyone in the top 5% financially who just wants a catastrophic plan — though even there, heads-up, Richie Rich: your plan likely will also have annual and lifetime caps on benefits.

For everyone else, that’s a false promise.

That’s a false benefit.

That’s not real coverage.

That is FAKE INSURANCE.
